Safety and Durability for Every Battle
Leifr is a high-quality foam weapon built to withstand the rigours of play and LARP combat. Weighing only approx. 180 g (0.4 lbs) with a total length of approx. 63 cm (24.8 in), it is perfectly balanced for smaller hands, ensuring safe and fun handling.
The construction prioritizes safety:
- Core: A sturdy fibreglass rod provides the sword's backbone.
- Kevlar Tip: A crucial safety feature is the Kevlar reinforcement at the tip of the blade. This prevents the fibreglass core from pushing through the foam during impacts, ensuring the sword remains safe for thrusting and striking over a long lifespan.
Authentic Viking Design
The visual details of Leifr are inspired by historical weaponry from the Viking Age. The silver-painted blade features a prominent fuller (groove), adding to its realistic appearance. The hilt is particularly striking:
- Grip: The handle mimics the look of light wood or bone, segmented by dark rings that provide a secure, non-slip grip.
- Pommel & Guard: The dark grey, curved crossguard and the distinctive five-lobed pommel are iconic Viking features. This style of pommel was typical for swords found in Scandinavia and the British Isles during the 9th and 10th centuries.
