Cursed Pirate Medallion in Brass, Aztec Compass (Brass,31 mm)
The Key to the Treasure of Hernán Cortés
This amulet is not just jewellery; it's a plot device. Its double-sided design is directly linked to the legend of the cursed Aztec gold.
- Obverse (The Cursed Skull): The front of the medallion displays the menacing skull that forms the centrepiece of an Aztec sun compass. This very symbol is the mark of the curse that befalls anyone who takes even a single gold coin from the chest.
- Reverse (The Pirate Ship): The back depicts a pirate galleon, a symbol of freedom and adventure, but also the very vessel used to steal the treasure. It recalls the journey each piece of gold has taken and the path it must travel to be returned.
Honest Craftsmanship
The medallion is made from solid brass with no surface treatment, allowing it to develop a natural patina over time that enhances its ancient look. It is suspended on a simple yet durable black leather cord, the length of which can be easily adjusted with sliding knots.
The Legend of the Cursed Aztec Gold
This amulet is inspired by the story from the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. According to the legend, Captain Barbossa's crew stole a stone chest containing 882 pieces of Aztec gold from the Isla de Muerta. By doing so, they brought a terrible curse upon themselves. The pirates became immortal, but at a terrible price—they could feel nothing, food turned to ash in their mouths, and in the moonlight, their bodies transformed into living skeletons. The curse could only be broken by returning all 882 coins to the chest and repaying a blood debt from everyone who took a coin. This medallion is a replica of one of those cursed pieces.
Czech Craftsmanship
The amulet is struck in the Czech Mincovna Dukát mint from a custom, hand-engraved die. Each piece is an original, and its solid construction ensures it will bring you joy for many years to come.

How to Care for Your Amulet
Brass is a durable material, but to maintain its appearance, we recommend protecting the amulet from water (especially because of the leather cord) and chemicals such as perfumes. The natural patina that develops over time is not a flaw; on the contrary, it adds to the amulet's authenticity. If you wish to restore its shine, you can polish it with a soft cloth. Warning: This product is not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
