Knightly Damascus Dagger "Camelot"
Detailed Description of the Dagger
This dagger is a celebration of craftsmanship, where robustness meets incredible finesse and attention to detail. Every element has been carefully considered and executed.
Damascus Steel Blade, Guard, and Pommel
The most striking feature is undoubtedly the massive use of genuine Damascus steel, forged from 256 layers. This material, with its unique pattern, is used not only for the slender, double-edged blade but also for the elegant crossguard and the pointed, faceted pommel. This uniform material gives the dagger an exceptionally luxurious and cohesive look.
Richly Decorated Handle
The dark wood handle is a work of art in itself. Its surface is adorned with several bands, including two inlaid silver-toned bands with a wave pattern. The entire handle is also heavily studded with a total of 50 miniature brass nails, which lend it a lavish appearance and provide an interesting texture for gripping.
The Leather Sheath
Included in the package is a sheath made of light brown leather. Its edges are strongly stitched, and the surface is decorated with a discreet stamped pattern. The belt loop is secured with a sturdy snap for safe carrying.
How to Use This Dagger
This dagger is ideal as:
- A Royal Piece for a Collection: It will become the pride of any collection focused on the Middle Ages, chivalry, or Arthurian legends.
- An Accessory for a Ruler or Noble's Costume: An essential accessory for the costume of a king, prince, or high-ranking knight at LARP events and historical festivals.
- An Exceptional Gift: A gift that will leave a lasting impression and be treasured for generations.
Historical Context and Classification
With its straight crossguard and distinct pommel, this dagger is classified among the classic knightly daggers that were typical of the High Middle Ages (approx. 13th-15th centuries). They served as a secondary weapon for knights and soldiers in close combat should they lose their sword. The lavish decoration seen here, however, indicates that this was the weapon of a high-status individual, for whom the dagger was not only a tool of defense but, above all, a symbol of power and wealth.
An Interesting Fact: The Dagger as a Calling Card
In the Middle Ages, when carrying a weapon was both a right and a duty, a personal dagger was its owner's calling card. An unadorned iron dagger was carried by a common soldier, but the richer and more detailed the decoration, the higher the status and influence of its bearer. The dagger of a king or duke would have been made from the finest materials and adorned with gold and precious stones—very much in the spirit of our "Camelot" dagger.
Important Notice
Although this dagger is made from high-quality materials and is fully functional and sharpened, the manufacturer does not provide a warranty for its use in contact fighting, stage combat, or HEMA. For this reason, we are offering it exclusively as a decorative and collector's item.
Product Care
All parts made of Damascus (carbon) steel—blade, guard, and pommel—must be kept dry and regularly conserved with a thin layer of oil to prevent rust. The wooden handle simply needs to be kept clean.
Safety Guidelines
This is a sharp, functional weapon. It is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and handle it with extreme care at all times to avoid injury.
