Sleeveless Linen Pourpoint – Natural

Design and Features

Linen was the "performance fabric" of the Middle Ages—breathable, moisture-wicking, and durable. This pourpoint features a tailored fit that sits close to the body. The front closure is secured with strong black cotton cords tipped with brass aiglets. These metal points are a mark of quality and historical authenticity, preventing the cords from fraying and making lacing easier. The sleeveless design ensures complete freedom of movement for your arms. The garment also features ties at the hem, historically used to "point" (attach) hose to the doublet to keep them up.

Versatile Historical Garment

  • Arming Doublet: Wear it under chainmail or plate armour. The linen absorbs sweat and protects your skin from chafing, while the sleeveless cut reduces bulk around the shoulders and armpits.
  • Civilian Wear: Pair it with a loose linen shirt and hose for a classic late medieval look suitable for archers, craftsmen, or soldiers off-duty.
  • Summer Events: Enjoy the historical silhouette without overheating during July and August fairs.

Care Instructions

Linen is a natural fibre that softens with use. Machine wash at 40°C (104°F) on a gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Tumble drying is not recommended as it can damage the fibres; air dry instead. Iron on a warm/hot setting, ideally while the fabric is still slightly damp.

Please Note: This listing is for the natural linen pourpoint only. The shirt, trousers (hose), belt, and sword shown in the images are for display purposes and are not included.
