An Essential Accessory for Every Historical Era
This apron is designed as a versatile accessory for a wide range of historical periods. Its cut is based on the clothing habits of the working classes – from Viking women in the north to Renaissance peasants in Central Europe. The apron ties at the waist with long straps, allowing for an adjustable fit suitable for various body shapes (One Size). The fabric is generously gathered into a sturdy waistband at the front, creating a pleasing silhouette while providing ample material for wiping hands or carrying small items, just as was customary in history.
Available in two fabric options to suit different needs:
- 100% Linen (240 gsm): For lovers of absolute historical accuracy. Linen is strong, cool to the touch, and becomes more beautiful with every wash. It features a characteristic irregular fibre structure.
- Cotton/Linen Blend (87% Cotton, 13% Linen, 180 gsm): A lighter and softer option that is easier to iron and feels more comfortable directly against the skin, whilst still maintaining a rustic appearance.
Historical Insight: More Than Just Clothing Protection
In the past, an apron was almost a "second skin" for a woman. Outer garments were often expensive and difficult to maintain (washing woollen dresses in a cold stream was no easy task). The apron, which could be easily boiled and bleached in the sun, caught all the dirt from cooking, field work, or tending to livestock. Additionally, it served as an improvised "bag" – women would gather eggs, fruit, or kindling in the folded fabric.

Care Instructions
To ensure your apron serves you well for many years and retains its authentic look, we recommend the following care:
- Machine wash on a gentle cycle at a maximum of 40°C (104°F).
- Use gentle detergents, ideally without optical brighteners, to preserve the natural tone.
- Do not bleach and do not dry clean.
- Do not tumble dry – air dry flat or hang dry to prevent shrinkage and fibre damage.
- Iron at a medium to high temperature. For best results, iron while the fabric is still slightly damp.
Safety and Usage Warnings
Avoid direct contact with open flames (be extra careful when cooking over a campfire). Do not use the apron as protective wear when operating modern power tools or machinery, where the long ties or loose skirt could get caught.
Tip: For a complete look, we recommend combining the apron with a kirtle (underdress) and a leather belt with a pouch. Other costume parts shown in the photographs are not included in the delivery.
