The History of Laguiole Knives and Traditional Protection

Laguiole pocket knives, named after the eponymous village in the southern French region of Occitanie, have deep roots in the 19th century. Originally, they served as an indispensable tool for local shepherds and peasants. Over time, their slim, elegant shape (often inspired by Spanish navaja knives) and the characteristic fly (bee) on the back of the spring turned them into a global symbol of French cutlery elegance. Because these knives rarely feature a pocket clip and their handle scales are usually made from luxurious natural materials, the use of soft slip pouches has become an absolute standard for their safe Every Day Carry (EDC).

Proper Use and Easy Maintenance of Faux Leather

This pouch is intended to be carried loosely in a trouser or jacket pocket and does not feature a belt loop. You simply slide the knife in, and the inner felt layer ensures it does not slip out on its own, whilst gently wiping dust off the handle every time you draw it. Artificial (PU) leather, unlike genuine leather, is completely maintenance-free. It does not require any lubrication with balms or waxes and is highly water-resistant. If it gets dirty, simply wipe the pouch with a damp cloth and let it air dry naturally. We recommend occasionally blowing out the inner felt lining with compressed air to prevent hard dust particles from settling within it.

Crucial Safety Warning

Always bear in mind that this slip pouch is designed exclusively for transporting folding knives in their fully closed position! Under no circumstances should you attempt to insert fixed-blade knives or opened knives into it. A sharp blade would very easily slice through the felt lining and the outer artificial leather shell, irreversibly destroying the pouch and potentially causing severe cutting injuries directly inside your pocket.
