Design and Features

This shirt features a distinctive stand-up collar and a laced neckline, allowing you to adjust the fit. The laces are tipped with wooden beads for a rustic touch. A key feature of this design is the gathering (ruching) at the front and back yoke, as well as on the sleeves. This not only adds to the historical aesthetic but also provides extra volume and ease of movement.

Made from 100% fine cotton, the fabric is breathable and pleasant against the skin. The brown colour is practical for outdoor events, as it hides dirt and stains better than white or natural fabrics.

Historical Context

Shirts with stand-up collars and gathered fabric became popular in the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance (15th–17th centuries). While earlier periods favoured simple T-shaped tunics, this more tailored yet voluminous style is perfect for late medieval settings, Landsknecht undergarments, or Early Modern periods like the age of piracy and musketeers.

• Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 40°C (104°F).
• Do not tumble dry. Air dry only.
• Important: Remove the wooden beads from the laces before washing! The wood may swell or leach colour, potentially staining the fabric.
