Compact Outdoor Bushcraft Knife with Bowie Blade and Micarta Handle
The History and Evolution of the Bowie Knife
The Bowie blade profile (often referred to as a clip point) has its roots in the 19th-century United States, made famous by the frontiersman Jim Bowie following the legendary Sandbar Fight in 1827. While original Bowie knives were massive weapons, today's modern interpretation transfers this excellent and versatile geometry to compact tools designed for bushcraft and outdoor survival. The prominent jimping on the spine of the blade provides a secure thumb rest for precise, forceful cutting. The knife is forged from high-quality X50CrMoV15 molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel, renowned for its excellent toughness and edge retention. The full-tang construction, meaning the steel runs entirely through the handle, guarantees the maximum possible strength and resilience.
Usage Guidelines and Safety
This model is equipped from the factory with a razor-sharp blade and is strictly intended as a practical utility tool for outdoor living and everyday carry (EDC) tasks. For safety reasons, we must strongly emphasise that this is not a weapon intended for contact historical fencing, self-defence, or martial arts sparring against a live opponent. Avoid using the knife for heavy lateral prying, as the fine tip could permanently snap off under extreme stress.
Care and Maintenance of the Blade and Sheath
The X50CrMoV15 steel is highly resistant to corrosion; however, we still recommend wiping the knife completely dry after use in damp or acidic environments (such as slicing fruit). Keep the blade honed using a ceramic sharpener or a fine honing steel. The composite Micarta handle is practically maintenance-free and only needs to be washed with water and a brush if heavily soiled. The leather sheath, featuring striking red contrast stitching, should be treated with leather balsam or beeswax twice a year to prevent it from drying out and to maintain its natural suppleness.
We highly recommend purchasing a quality fire steel to accompany this knife, ensuring easy and rapid fire lighting in the wilderness.
