The pocket knife is designed in the classic slipjoint style, which means the blade is held in the open position solely by the pressure of the backspring and does not feature any solid mechanical locking mechanism. This centuries-proven mechanism is absolutely sufficient for everyday tasks such as opening parcels, preparing food on the go, or light DIY chores. The included sturdy nylon sheath is highly versatile, as it can be worn on your belt either longitudinally or transversely (horizontally or vertically), depending entirely on your preference and clothing.

Materials and Historical Context

The blade is made of the tried-and-tested 440 stainless steel. This steel has been a standard in the cutlery industry for decades due to its excellent corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. The handle is fitted with scales made of "chicken-wing wood". This is the translation of an Asian term for precious dark woods (often Wenge or related species), characterised by a fine, highly contrasting grain reminiscent of bird feathers. The combination of stainless steel and noble wood, featuring a prominent pivot screw, gives the knife a touch of modern elegance while respecting traditional craftsmanship.

Safety and Care for Your Pocket Knife

Given the absence of a blade lock, you must remember a fundamental safety rule: never perform stabbing techniques with the knife, and do not apply strong downward pressure on the spine of the blade. Doing so could cause the blade to unintentionally snap shut on your fingers. The knife is intended strictly for cutting. To ensure a long lifespan and smooth operation, we recommend wiping the blade dry after contact with aggressive substances (e.g. fruit juices). Pocket knives tend to collect pocket lint in the mechanism, so occasionally clean the backspring and pivot, and apply a tiny drop of fine gun oil. The wooden scales will benefit from being occasionally rubbed with beeswax or linseed oil.
