History and Purpose of Backup Daggers

Knives designed for concealed carry in a boot (so-called boot knives) have a strong historical tradition. Originally, they were used by soldiers in the trenches as a last resort for self-defense, and they soon found their way into the equipment of special police units. The blade shape of this model is based on a classic double-edged dagger with a prominent double-sided crossguard. This design has been proven over centuries for its excellent penetrative power and easy handling. The "Smith & Wesson H.R.T." logo on the blade refers to the Hostage Rescue Team, underlining the tactical focus of this tool.

Materials and Detailed Construction

The blade, with a respectable length of 145 mm (approx. 5.71 in), is precisely crafted from high-quality 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. The surface of the blade is aesthetically black coated, which gives the weapon a modern look and additional protection. In addition, a longitudinal weight-reducing groove, a so-called blood groove (fuller), runs through the center of the blade. The ergonomically shaped handle is made of solid rubberized plastic. Its surface is provided with an anti-slip texture and the manufacturer's logo, ending with a practical hole for threading a paracord safety lanyard. Safe carrying is ensured by a custom-moulded sheath made of durable black plastic. This sheath is equipped with a firm clip for attachment to the edge of a boot or belt and features elongated slots around its perimeter for variable lashing to your tactical gear.

Safety Warnings for the User

Strong Warning: The knife features a long and very sharp blade. The weapon is under no circumstances suitable for contact stage combat, martial arts training, or cutting tests. This is a real tactical cutting tool. Careless handling or quick drawing could result in severe injury to yourself. Always handle the knife with maximum responsibility and store it in a safe place out of the reach of children.

Knife Maintenance and Recommended Accessories

Thanks to the use of stainless steel, maintaining this knife is very easy. To keep it in flawless condition, we recommend gently wiping the blade with a soft, dry cloth after each use and removing any dirt. Occasionally wiping the blade with a single drop of high-quality gun oil will help protect the material in the long term. We highly recommend purchasing a small ceramic or diamond pocket sharpener to go with this knife, thanks to which you will keep both edges of the dagger constantly in perfect condition.
