How to Care for a New Pipe

• Breaking In: For the first 10-15 smokes, fill the bowl only a third to a maximum of half full. Smoke very slowly and gently, not allowing the pipe to get too hot. Gradually, a thin, hard layer will form, protecting the wood.
• Cleaning: After each smoke, let the pipe cool down completely. Then, carefully clean it with a pipe cleaner to remove moisture and ash residue. Never attempt to disassemble the pipe while it is still hot—the materials expand at different rates and it could crack or break.
