Iron Handcuffs "Black Warden" – Black, for LARP and Cosplay
Prisoner Manacles for the Perfect Atmosphere
This replica is made of sturdy metal with a durable black lacquer finish, protecting the material from corrosion while giving it a specific "dungeon" look. The handcuffs consist of two rigid cuffs connected by a chain with three massive links. This design restricts hand movement effectively, exactly as required for the role of a captured prisoner.
The manacles are fully functional. The locking mechanism is operated using the included keys. Simply turn the key to open the cuff, and lock it again after placing it on the wrist. Although this is primarily a LARP prop, the construction is robust enough for scenic use. The wrist opening has slightly oval internal dimensions (approx. 6.4 x 5 cm), which follows the anatomy of the wrist better than a perfect circle, ensuring a more comfortable fit.
Warning: While these handcuffs are functional, they are a costume prop. They are not intended for actual police use or high-security restraint situations.

Historical Context: A Symbol of Captivity
Shackles and irons have accompanied humanity since the Bronze Age. In the Middle Ages and early modern period, iron manacles were a standard part of the equipment for town guards and jailers. They were used not only to restrict prisoners' movement during transport but often as a form of punishment in the pillory. The blackening of iron, achieved here by painting, was historically done using oil and heat to protect the metal from rust in damp dungeons.
Care Instructions
To ensure your handcuffs serve you well for a long time and the mechanism doesn't jam, I recommend following a few simple rules:
- Mechanism Maintenance: Occasionally apply a drop of oil (e.g., WD-40 or sewing machine oil) to the lock and hinge to ensure smooth key operation.
- Storage: Keep the product dry. If the handcuffs get wet during an event, dry them thoroughly to prevent corrosion, especially where the paint might have worn off.
- Safety: Never lose the keys while wearing the handcuffs! Even though it is a prop, opening them without a key can be difficult.
