Versatile Double-Ended Nickel-Plated Bolt Snap for Historical Camps

Versatile Use in Modern and Historical Camps

While this snap hook does not come from the forge of a medieval blacksmith, as experienced reenactors and LARPers, we know well that practicality sometimes has to take precedence. Double-ended snap hooks (often referred to as bolt snaps) are a modern invention that has found massive application in equestrianism, sailing, and dog handling. In our hobby, you will find it perfectly suited for quickly connecting tent ropes, hanging lanterns, securing armour to your transport bag, or safely tying up your dog in the camp. The silver appearance ensures that the hook does not look out of place among your leather and metal gear.

How to Properly Use the Snap Hook

Handling is absolutely intuitive. Simply pull back the sliding pin with your thumb to open the eye. Then, hook the snap onto a D-ring on your belt, a tent rope, or a leather strap, and release the pin. The internal spring ensures a secure closure. You can perform this process independently on both sides of the hook.

Principles of Safe Handling

From a safety perspective, we must strongly emphasize that this is not a climbing carabiner nor certified personal protective equipment (PPE). Never use it to secure people against falls and do not use it for lifting heavy loads. It is intended solely for securing light gear, animals, or minor camp equipment.

Maintenance and Care

The snap hook is made from zinc die-cast and coated with a layer of nickel, giving it high corrosion resistance. If it drops into the mud, simply rinse it with water and wipe it dry. Should the sliding mechanism start to jam due to dust and dirt, we recommend applying a small drop of gun oil or silicone spray to the spring area.

Recommended Accessories

To get the most out of this snap hook, we recommend purchasing quality leather straps, brass or steel D-rings for your belt, or a sturdy hemp rope from our range of camp equipment.
