Spanish Morion Helmet, 16th -17th century

Evolving from the Kettle Hat, the Morion was worn by early Spanish explorers and conquistadors during the 16th and early 17th centuries. It is characterized by the flat brim and a comb, or "crest, "running from front to back which helped deflect blows and strengthened the top.
