Crimson Dream of a Young Noblewoman: Marie Children’s Medieval Gown with Angel Sleeves

Historical Elegance in a Child-Friendly Design

The design of this gown draws inspiration from High Medieval fashion, specifically from the 12th to 14th centuries. During this era, the so-called bliauts were in vogue, characterized by these very iconic, wide-flaring "angel" or "trumpet" sleeves. These sleeves were not just a fashion statement; they symbolized high social status – the more fabric used for the sleeves, the wealthier the wearer's family was considered to be.

The dress is designed to grow with your child. Thanks to the triple lacing – one at the chest and two at the sides – you can adjust the gown perfectly to her silhouette. If your daughter is of a slimmer build, the lacing allows the dress to be tightened so that it still looks elegant and fits properly. The black front insert creates an optical illusion of a slender waist, perfectly matching the aesthetics of period courtly gowns.

Material and Care Guide

The dress is tailored from 100% cotton. Cotton is the ideal choice for children's costumes – it is breathable, soft against the skin, and absorbs moisture well, which you will appreciate during summer battles or festivities under the blazing sun. Unlike synthetic costumes from cheap fancy-dress shops, a child will not overheat in this garment.

How to care for the dress:

  • The dress can be machine washed at temperatures up to 40°C (104°F).
  • We recommend washing it inside out to protect the lacing and trim.
  • Iron on a medium setting (cotton).
  • Do not tumble dry, as the natural material may shrink slightly.

Safety and Practical Advice

When wearing long historical gowns, you should observe several safety principles. Due to the length of the skirt, there is a risk of tripping, especially when running on uneven terrain or walking up stairs. Teach your young noblewoman to slightly lift her skirt when climbing stairs, just as ladies did in olden times. The wide sleeves are beautiful, but be careful around open flames (candles, campfires) or when handling food, as they can easily get dirty or caught.

Please note that accessories such as belts, brooches, or footwear shown in the photographs are not included in the delivery.

We recommend completing the look with a simple leather belt and a small leather pouch for trinkets, both matching the 13th or 14th-century style. This will create an authentic set that will be the envy of everyone at the event.
