Preparation and Practical Use
The crossbow arrives professionally tuned and pre-assembled. Before your first shot, simply mount the illuminated scope and ensure all mounting bolts are secure. Maintenance and Care
To ensure this high-tech device serves you for years, follow these maintenance steps:
- Regularly apply string wax to the string and cables to prevent fraying.
- Do not grease the rail; Ravin uses a Frictionless Flight System where the string does not drag along the rail.
- After use in wet conditions, wipe the crossbow dry and apply a light coat of anti-corrosion oil to metal parts.
- Visually inspect the limbs regularly for any signs of cracks or delamination.
What to avoid?
Never dry fire the crossbow! Even with the anti-dry fire safety, it is the quickest way to irreversibly destroy the limbs and cams. Use only original Ravin arrows with specific nocks, as standard arrows could fail under the immense kinetic energy, damaging the string or trigger mechanism.
Recommended Accessories
For your Ravin R26X, I recommend a padded carrying case specifically designed for bullpup models to protect your optics. Stock up on Ravin .003 or .001 branded arrows for maximum long-range consistency. For practice, a heavy-duty target butt is essential to safely stop arrows travelling at over 120 m/s without damaging the shafts.
