Falcata w. Horse Head Pommel, incl. Sheath & Companion Knife, 4th-3rd c. BC

Particularly outstanding is the richly decorated brass handle with pommel in the shape of a horse head. The handle scales are made of bone and fastened with brass rivets. The EN45 spring steel blade is also very ornate, featuring many fullers. The scope of delivery includes a small companion knife with a bone handle. Neither the sword nor the knife are sharpened.

The sword and knife are housed in a beautiful wooden scabbard bound in red leather and equipped with a throat, a chape, bands and articulated suspension rings made of brass.

Please note that this sword is not a battle-ready weapon. It is designed as a collector’s or decoration/display piece and is not suited for combat reenactment. Besides its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume.

Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain the blade on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.

Please keep in mind that bone is a natural product and variations in colour and grain are quite normal. Each sword and companion knife has thus its own very unique handle, and above pictures are for reference only.
