Leather Journal "Peace" with Peace Symbol, Turquoise-Green

This diary captivates at first glance with its precise craftsmanship. The genuine leather cover in a turquoise-green shade is adorned with embossing. In addition to the large peace symbol (the CND sign) and the word "Peace", the cover is framed by a decorative border. The spine of the book is bound with a visible cross-stitch, enhancing its handcrafted appearance. A robust brass latch ensures it stays securely closed.

Inside, there are 100 sheets (200 pages) of high-quality, unlined paper. This paper is handmade from pure cotton, giving it a unique texture similar to jute or canvas and the look of old parchment. The paper is acid-free, ensuring its longevity. It is ideal for writing with a ballpoint pen, pencil, or for drawing with crayons and painting with acrylic paints.

Did you know where the peace symbol comes from? This now-iconic symbol was designed in 1958 by the British artist Gerald Holtom. He created it for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) for the first Easter March from London to the Aldermaston nuclear weapons research establishment. The symbol itself is a combination of two semaphore (flag signalling) characters: "N" for "Nuclear" and "D" for "Disarmament".

Journal Care and Notice

To ensure your leather diary lasts as long as possible, protect it from excessive moisture and direct sunlight, which could cause the colour to fade. You can occasionally treat the leather with a leather conditioner to keep it supple.

Important Notice: Due to the specific texture and absorbency of the handmade paper, we do not recommend using fountain pens, ink pens, or watercolours. These liquid-based media may bleed or feather on the paper and show through to the next page.

This journal is a fantastic accessory for anyone with an eye for style. It pairs perfectly with our leather bags and pouches (e.g., SKU 23068 or SKU 23069) and you can write in it with our hand-forged pen (SKU 23512), for example.
