Set of 12 Crusader Magnets – Knightly Orders Collection
Three Colours, Three Legends
The set contains a total of 12 knights divided into three colour schemes, with each group possessing its own specific charm:
- Knights Templar (White with Red Cross): The classic look of the most famous knightly order. These figures in white surcoats with red crosses are icons of the Crusades.
- Hospitallers (Black with White Cross): Knights in black cloaks with white crosses reference the early period of the Order of St. John or the feared "Black Knights" of legend. They appear dark, determined, and elegant.
- Defenders of Jerusalem (Grey with Gold Cross): This group in grey surcoats with gold details represents elite heavy infantry or a royal guard. The gold crosses on the shields add a touch of nobility.
The figures are made of durable polyresin and are hand-painted. Each knight adopts a different pose – some stand guard with a spear, others lean on a sword or take cover behind a shield. Thanks to the strong magnet on the back, they will hold not only themselves on the fridge but also important notes, shopping lists, or photos from your last LARP battle.
Historical Insight: Colours on the Battlefield
In the chaos of a medieval battle, amidst clouds of dust and under the scorching sun of the Holy Land, it was crucial to distinguish friend from foe. That is why knightly orders introduced uniform surcoats (fabric coverings worn over armour). The Templars wore white as a symbol of purity with the red cross of martyrdom. The Hospitallers originally wore black cloaks with a white cross (symbolizing the eight knightly virtues) before later switching to red with a white cross. These colours were not just fashion; they were a matter of survival and order pride.
Caring for Your Small Army
Although these knights appear to be clad in "iron", they are actually made of resin, which requires a little care:
- Fragility: Polyresin is hard, but if dropped on a tiled floor, the figurine (especially swords or spears) can snap off. Handle them with care.
- Cleaning: If dust or grease settles on the knights in the kitchen, wipe them with a soft, damp cloth and detergent. Do not use wire wool or aggressive chemicals to avoid damaging the hand-painting.
- Magnetism: The magnet is strong, but slamming the fridge door could cause the figurine to shift or fall due to the vibration; it is better to place them in a safer, upper zone.
