To prevent the scales from drying out and to maintain their contrasting grain and lustre, we highly recommend occasionally rubbing them lightly with linseed oil or beeswax. Under no circumstances does this knife belong in a dishwasher, nor should it be left soaking in water. Simply wipe the blade with a damp cloth after use and dry it thoroughly. From time to time, lubricate the pivot with a drop of high-quality gun oil to maintain the smooth operation of the backspring.
Important Safety Warning: The blade of this knife lacks a rigid mechanical lock (it cannot be locked open). The blade is held in the open position solely by friction and the pressure of the backspring. If you use the knife for stabbing or apply heavy pressure to the spine of the blade, there is a serious risk of it unexpectedly snapping shut on your fingers! This knife is designed exclusively for standard cutting tasks (slicing or cutting with downward pressure). For safety reasons, it is not a suitable tool for heavy woodcraft, prying, or self-defence training.
