Are you looking for a spiritual symbol to adorn your study, or searching for the perfect gift for a pilgrim who has walked the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago)? This stone relief featuring the Cross of Saint James is a masterpiece that blends history with artistry. St. James Cross Stone Relief | 20x15 cm | Marto
Symbolism of Sword and Faith
This cross is no ordinary Christian symbol. It is the emblem of the Order of Santiago, a military-religious order founded in the 12th century to protect pilgrims and drive the Moors from the Iberian Peninsula. The cross is shaped like a sword (cross fitchy), symbolising that Saint James was not only an apostle but also a protector and warrior. The ends of the arms are shaped like lilies (fleur-de-lis), representing "flawless honour".
Quality from Toledo, Spain
This piece comes from the workshop of the world-renowned brand MARTO, based directly in Toledo—the historic heart of Spanish armoury and craftsmanship. It belongs to the exclusive "Historical Stones Collection".
Where to Display It?
Thanks to the material (polyresin), the relief is weather-resistant. You can place it:
- As a stylish interior decoration (living room, study, hallway).
- On a house facade or in a garden setting (note: long-term exposure to direct sunlight may cause the patina to fade slightly over time).
- As part of a home altar or meditation corner.
