Metal Knight Figurine with Rampant Horse Coat of Arms, 10.5 cm

A Close Look at the Armour

This figurine is not just a simple decoration but a small glimpse into military history. The knight is clad in chainmail, covering his entire body, including his limbs. On his head, he wears a so-called Great Helm (bucket helm), typical of the 13th and 14th centuries, which provided maximum facial protection. Over the armour, he wears a surcoat, depicted here in a dark finish with gold hems. He rests on a classic heater shield adorned with a relief motif of a horse and floral ornaments. Golden details on the helmet, shield, and sword hilt add a touch of luxury to the statuette.

Historical Context: The Symbolism of the Horse

The motif you see on the shield and the knight's chest is not accidental. In heraldry, the horse, and especially the rampant one, symbolized readiness for battle, speed, and intellect. Knights chose this symbol to demonstrate their courage and the bond with their faithful steed, without which heavy cavalry warfare would have been unthinkable. This figurine thus pays tribute not only to the warrior but also to knightly virtues.

Usage and Care Instructions

This tin soldier (or rather its modern lead-free variant) will look great on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or in an office, where it can also serve as a stylish paperweight. To keep it looking its best for as long as possible, please follow these guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Remove dust with a soft brush or a dry microfibre cloth. Do not use water or chemical cleaners, as they could damage the patina.
  • Placement: Do not expose the figurine to direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent colours from fading.
  • Safety: Although it is a durable alloy, a fall from a height onto a hard floor could cause fine parts (e.g., the sword) to break off.

Please note that this is a decorative collector's item, not a toy. Due to the heavier weight and hardness of the material, the product is not suitable for small children.
