This cape is made of strong, roughly woven cotton, which feels authentic and indicates the harsh conditions the knights faced. The long cut of the cape reaches down to the ankles (the total length from the shoulder seam is approx. 148 cm) and ensures generous drape. The wide hem (approx. 270 cm) gives the cloak a dramatic look.

Cross symbol:

The striking red Latin cross (approx. 62 x 26.5 cm) on the left side of the chest is a symbol of the crusader orders, in particular the Knights Templar, the Hospitallers and others. This cross was a sign of devotion to the faith and courage in battle.

Practical details:

• Tying: The cloak is tied at the neck with an internal drawstring that is hidden at the shoulders. You can also tie it with a decorative cord (length approx. 82 cm, diameter 8.7 mm) at the front.
• Hidden laces. This way you can also wear the cloak unfastened without it slipping down.
• Hood: The spacious hood (length approx. 61 cm) without lining gives the cloak an authentic medieval look.

Historical context:

The Crusades (11th to 13th century) were military expeditions organised by Christian Europe to reclaim the Holy Land (present-day Israel and Palestine) from Muslim control. Chivalric orders such as the Knights Templar and the Hospitallers played a major role in these expeditions. Their cloaks, emblazoned with the cross, were a symbol of their mission and their affiliation with the order.
