Zamoran Hand-and-a-Half Sword for Stage Combat

Gothic Elegance and Strength for Stage Combat

This sword is inspired by historical originals from the High to Late Middle Ages (14th to 15th century), when bastard swords—or hand-and-a-half swords—became dominant on European battlefields. These versatile weapons allowed for fast single-handed wielding alongside a shield, as well as a firm two-handed grip to deliver powerful strikes against plate armor. The downward-curved crossguard with side rings and the ring-shaped pommel reflect late Gothic stylistic elements (classified according to Oakeshott typology).

The blade provides excellent flexibility and toughness due to oil quenching to approx. 47 HRC. The wooden grip core is tightly wrapped in genuine leather and reinforced with wire wrapping, preventing slippage even when wearing leather or padded gauntlets. Handcrafted by experienced Czech swordmakers.

Maintenance and Safety Guidelines

This sword is designed for stage combat and light sparring (Class B), but it is not intended for full-contact heavy armor combat such as Buhurt or Battle of the Nations. Parry incoming strikes with the flat of the blade rather than edge-to-edge, and maintain controlled, sporting technique without excessive brute force.

Spring steel is not stainless. Always clean and dry the blade thoroughly after use, then apply a protective mineral oil (such as Ballistol). Before every session, inspect the blade edges and file down any burrs using a diamond file or sandpaper to prevent nicking or injury. Minor loosening of the crossguard over time is normal; it can be temporarily shimmed with tight fishing line before professional maintenance. Keep stored safely away from children in a dry environment.
