Black Wooden Display Stand for Medieval Helmets
Display your medieval helmet, historical armour piece or collectable headgear safely and attractively on this black wooden helmet stand. Its stable square base supports a tall central stem crowned by a shaped helmet rest, allowing the item to remain upright whilst its silhouette and construction stay clearly visible. The understated black finish complements polished steel, darkened armour and aged patina without distracting from the exhibit. It is ideal for private collections, reenactment clubs, shops, museums, LARP displays and product photography. Further product information ...
Black Wooden Display Stand for Medieval Helmets
A Stable Stand for Display and Storage
The stand consists of a square base with moulded edges, a cylindrical upright and an enlarged shaped top. The broad upper support distributes the helmet's weight over a wider area than a narrow peg and helps keep the item centred above the base. Its smooth black-painted surface provides a neutral setting for both historical reproductions and fantasy armour.
The stand can accommodate many open and enclosed helmet styles, including kettle hats, bascinets, sallets, armets, burgonets and decorative fantasy helmets. Always check that the interior dimensions, weight and centre of gravity of your helmet are appropriate. Exceptionally heavy, asymmetrical or highly crested helmets may require a wider or additionally weighted display base.
A Modern Display Accessory for Historical Armour
This type of helmet stand is not a reproduction of a medieval household object. It is a modern presentation and storage accessory intended to hold historical or historically inspired headgear above a shelf or table. The raised position makes the helmet bowl, visor, cheek pieces, crest and lower edge easier to examine from every side.
The stand is particularly useful for collectors, reenactors, LARP participants, costume departments, museums and retailers. It also provides a tidy presentation during lectures, exhibitions and photographic sessions, where a helmet placed flat upon a surface would conceal much of its shape.
How to Assemble the Stand
The construction separates into two main sections. The upright is secured to the base by a threaded connection approximately 6 mm in diameter.
- Place the base on a clean, level working surface.
- Align the thread at the bottom of the upright with the threaded insert in the base.
- Screw the upright clockwise into position by hand.
- Tighten it only until firmly seated; do not use pliers or excessive force.
- Check that the upright is vertical and does not wobble.
- Lower the helmet gently from above and confirm that its centre of gravity remains over the base.

Positioning Your Helmet Correctly
Make sure the interior of the helmet is clean and completely dry before placing it on the stand. Arrange any leather liner, textile padding and chin straps so that they are not crushed between the upper support and the helmet shell. Lower the helmet vertically and rotate it gently until it reaches a stable display position.
For valuable replicas or delicate liners, we recommend placing a thin piece of clean, undyed cotton between the support and the interior. This reduces localised pressure and the possibility of colour transfer. Do not use damp foam, coarse felt or materials that may retain moisture against leather or metal.
Care and Safety
- Remove dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Keep the stand away from water, high humidity and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Wipe away any spilled liquid immediately.
- Do not use abrasive pads, solvents or aggressive cleaning products.
- Place the base upon a level, firm and sufficiently wide surface.
- Check the threaded connection between the upright and base regularly.
- Never carry the assembled stand by the helmet or the shaped top support.
- Do not use it as a coat rack, leaning support or holder for unstable heavy objects.
Keep the display away from small children and pets. A heavy steel helmet may cause injury or damage furniture if the stand is knocked over. Test unusually heavy helmets carefully at a low height above a soft surface before placing them on permanent display.
