Night Flyer: Black Duralumin Arrow for Modern Archers

Construction and Practical Use

The arrow is supplied as a complete set, so you can simply pull it from your quiver and start shooting. The core is a shaft made of lightweight yet strong aluminium alloy (duralumin), which is far more resistant to breaking than wood. The arrow is fitted with plastic vanes that ensure stable rotation and a flat flight path. At the end, you'll find a plastic nock that sits securely on your bowstring.

A major advantage is the screw-in steel point. If the tip gets damaged or you want to experiment with different weights or types of points, simply unscrew it from the aluminium insert and replace it. This model is rated for bows with a draw weight of up to 60 lbs (approx. 27 kg), making it a versatile tool for most modern recurve and compound bows.

A Glimpse into Archery History

While we use duralumin and plastics today, for thousands of years, the arrow was the pinnacle of craftsmanship using natural materials. English longbowmen at Agincourt used ash or cedar arrows with forged "bodkin" points capable of piercing contemporary plate armour. Interestingly, aluminium only began to dominate archery in the 1930s, completely transforming the sport through its perfect uniformity—every arrow in a set weighs and flexes exactly the same, something nearly impossible to achieve with wood.

Maintenance and Safety Instructions

To ensure your arrow serves you for a long time, please follow these tips:

  • Use a proper target: Only shoot at designated target materials (straw, foam, specialized target butts). Striking wood, stones, or walls will result in a bent or broken shaft, which is not covered by warranty.
  • Pre-shot inspection: Always check if the shaft is straight and ensure the plastic nock isn't cracked. Never use a damaged arrow—it may shatter upon release and cause serious injury.
  • Storage: Store arrows in a quiver or rack to prevent deformation of the vanes. If the vanes do get slightly bent, a quick blast with a hairdryer often helps them return to their original shape.
  • Safety: Never point an arrow at people or animals. Remember that even with a practice tip, an arrow carries immense kinetic energy and can cause fatal injuries.

For comfortable transport and protection of your gear, we recommend getting a back or side quiver, and for safe practice, be sure to select a high-quality target butt from our collection.

Prozatím přežil i nepřímý zásah do zdi, což karbon už nerozdýchal.
