Twisted Bronze Viking Torc with Fenris Wolf Terminals

Details and Practical Use

This torc (neck ring) is designed based on historical finds from the Viking Age. During this period, such items were not merely decorative but served as an expression of social status and a warrior's wealth. the terminals depict Fenris, the son of Loki, whose power was so immense that the gods could only bind him through cunning. The torc is worn around the neck with the wolf heads facing forward. Putting it on is simple: carefully pull the ring open, place it around your neck, and gently press it back together until it fits comfortably. Because it is made from two twisted bronze wires, it remains flexible enough for adjustment while providing the necessary stability to hold its shape.

Historical Context: Fenris and the Twilight of the Gods

The Fenris wolf (also Fenrir or Fenrisúlfr) is one of the most terrifying figures in Norse mythology. As the son of the god Loki and the giantess Angurboda, he represented a threat to the very order of the world. The gods, fearing his power, bound him with the magical chain Gleipnir, but not before he took the hand of the god Tyr. Legend says that during Ragnarök, Fenrir will break his chains and devour Odin himself. Wearing this torc symbolizes an acknowledgement of fate and the raw forces of nature. The twisted wire style was a hallmark of Viking craftsmanship throughout the North.

Care and Safety Instructions

Bronze is a noble material that naturally oxidizes over time, developing a darker patina which adds to its historical authenticity. If you prefer a bright, polished look, we recommend occasionally polishing the torc with a soft cloth and a metal cleaner. Important Warning: When putting it on, only bend the torc as much as is absolutely necessary. Repeated, sharp bending at the same point can lead to material fatigue and eventual breaking. Bronze is strong, but not indestructible. Do not wear the torc during contact combat or strenuous physical activities where it could get caught and cause injury to the neck. We recommend pairing this jewellery with a Viking tunic and a bronze cloak pin from our collection to complete your historical set.
