History in Your Pocket and Practical Use
Although small travel bottles have accompanied mankind for centuries, the golden age of the hip flask as we know it today began in the 18th century amongst the British gentry. However, the real boom and mass adoption came with Prohibition in the USA (starting in 1920), when it became necessary to discreetly conceal alcohol in clothing or boots (hence the term "bootlegging"). This flask follows this tradition of discretion and elegance. It is equipped with a practical screw cap featuring a "captive top" mechanism, which keeps the lid attached to the neck. This ensures that you will never drop or lose the cap in the snow or whilst wearing gloves.

How to Care for Your Flask
To ensure your drink always tastes its best and the flask lasts for years, follow a few simple rules. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water before first use. Stainless steel is durable, but not indestructible:
- Cleaning: Wash by hand only with warm water, or a little washing-up liquid. Do not use wire wool or harsh chemicals. This product is not dishwasher safe.
- Contents: The flask is designed for straight spirits (whisky, brandy, vodka, rum). It is not suitable for acidic drinks (juices, fruit liqueurs) or carbonated beverages, which could damage the seals or the metal surface.
- Storage: Alcohol should not be left in the flask for longer than 3 days, as it may acquire a metallic taste. When not in use, store it rinsed, dry, and with the cap removed to allow it to air out.
I strongly recommend purchasing a small stainless steel funnel to go with this flask, as filling the narrow neck with precious spirits without one can be unnecessarily complicated and wasteful.
