Original Japanese Brocade Katana Bag - Blue Floral
Protection and Aesthetics in One
The bag is sewn from high-quality brocade, a sturdy fabric with complex patterns created by interweaving shiny threads. This specific model features motifs of chrysanthemums and peonies, which symbolize longevity and nobility in Japan. The fabric is strong enough to protect the lacquered scabbard (saya) from dust, sunlight, and minor scratches during handling. Included with the bag is a traditional yellow tie cord (fusahimo) with tassels, which allows you to securely close the bag.

What is a Fukuro Used For?
Historically and currently, the cloth bag (Fukuro) serves as the first layer of protection for the sword. Samurai stored their swords in it when not worn in the belt. Today, its use is twofold: 1. Storage: It protects the sword from dust and UV radiation, which can damage the lacquer on the scabbard over time. 2. Transport: If you travel to training, the sword inside this cloth bag is placed into a sturdier carrying case. The fabric prevents the sword from chafing inside the bag.
Care Instructions
Since this is a delicate textile with interwoven threads, it requires gentle handling:
- Washing: Hand wash only in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Do not scrub the fabric vigorously to avoid damaging the pattern.
- Ironing: If necessary, iron at a low temperature (synthetic/silk setting) and preferably through another cloth.
- Storage: Never insert a sword that is wet or has condensation into the bag.
