The historical inspiration for this classic working dress is based on the everyday clothing of women from the High Middle Ages (approx. 14th century) to the Early Modern period. Throughout history, this type of clothing was primarily worn by tavern keepers, maidservants, and housewives who needed freedom of movement for their daily chores. The apron protected the valuable skirt from getting dirty, and the cloth cap ensured hygiene and protected the hair from the omnipresent dust and smoke of open hearths. The shirt, sewn from pleasant cotton, is practically gathered into an elastic band at the neckline and upper sleeves for maximum comfort. The vest features front lacing and short sleeves, under which the voluminous sleeves of the shirt beautifully stand out. The gingham (100% cotton) and linen blend used provide excellent absorbency and breathability.

Costume Care And Safety Instructions
To ensure this garment lasts as long as possible looking like new, we recommend washing it gently by hand or on a delicate washing machine cycle at a temperature up to 30 °C (86 °F). Completely avoid aggressive bleaches and do not dry the costume in a tumble dryer, as this could cause the natural fibres to shrink. Let the garment dry naturally, laid flat or on a hanger.
