Baroque Satin Shirt with Jabot
History and Cut of the Baroque Shirt
This shirt is inspired by the fashion of the Baroque period, mainly the 17th and 18th centuries. During this era, the European nobility and the wealthy bourgeoisie favoured ostentation, rich drapery, and decorative elements. A typical feature of the clothing of that time was the cascading jabot – a richly ruffled chest piece that added volume to the chest area and expressed the wearer's social status. Similar shirts were worn with court dress, under waistcoats and tailcoats for festive occasions. Today, this garment is ideal for re-enactment, historical festivals, or the theatre.
The shirt features long, rather narrow sleeves finished with buttoned cuffs. The collar is lay-down and transitions into a striking cascading jabot decorated with fine lace. The front fastens with elegant buttons. Upon request, this Baroque shirt with a cascading jabot is supplied in other colours according to these fabric swatches. Please state thy colour preferences (swatch number, letter, and colour name) in the order notes. In case of a different material composition, any price change is consulted in advance.
The product is available in standard sizes according to this size chart. The shirt is also custom-tailored to measure without any surcharge. Simply fill in our measurement chart after completing the order.
Please note that any other accessories shown in the photographs (e.g., trousers or jewellery) are not included in the delivery and serve only as illustrations.

Product Care and Maintenance
Satin with elastane is relatively easy to maintain but still requires gentle handling. We recommend washing the shirt on a gentle cycle at a temperature up to 30 °C (86 °F). Do not use aggressive bleaches or a tumble dryer to avoid damaging the fibres. Let the shirt dry freely on a hanger, which will also make subsequent ironing easier. Always iron on the lowest temperature setting, ideally inside out. Detailed information can be found in our article on Cleaning and maintenance instructions.
Recommended Accessories
For a perfect Baroque look, we recommend complementing this shirt with a richly decorated brocade waistcoat, high-waisted period trousers, and historical footwear with decorative buckles. For a ladies' style, a combination with a lace-up corset and a wide 18th-century skirt is highly suitable.
