Leather Journal "The Journey That Matters", Cognac Brown, with Clasp, 20x15.5 cm

About the Quote on the Cover

The front of the journal is embossed with the inspiring quote: "It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end." Below it is the signature "Ernest Hemingway".

As historians and lovers of literature, we'll permit ourselves a small note: Although this quote is often attributed to Hemingway, it actually comes from the pen of the amazing fantasy and sci-fi author, Ursula K. Le Guin, specifically from her novel "The Left Hand of Darkness". But regardless of authorship, the power of this thought is undeniable and perfect for a journal!

A Massive Tome for Great Journeys

This journal is no lightweight. It's made from honest, vegetable-tanned buffalo leather with a subtle patina and visible stitching around the edges. It closes securely with a leather strap and a robust, antiqued-brass-coloured metal clasp (a C-hook or swing hook). The spine is adorned with a visible cross-stitch binding, underscoring its handmade and historical character.

Paper as Old as Time Itself

What makes this journal truly exceptional is its paper. Inside, you'll find 100 leaves (200 pages) of handmade paper. It's made from a blend of recycled paper and cotton, giving it a texture reminiscent of jute and canvas. It is unlined and, most importantly, has a distinct, deep yellow to ochre patina. Each page is an original with uneven, deckled edges and looks like it's from a centuries-old chronicle.

Warning and Care

Important Note on the Paper: Due to its rough and absorbent texture, the paper is ideal for ballpoint pens, pencils, or crayons. Acrylics may also work. However, we do not recommend using fountain pens or watercolours, as they will bleed and feather heavily on this paper.

Leather Care: Protect the journal from water. If it gets damp, let it air dry slowly at room temperature. For maintenance, you can *very sparingly* treat the leather with a leather conditioner (e.g., beeswax-based).
