The cover of this journal is crafted from high-quality, genuine buffalo leather, which has been vegetable-tanned. The leather has a beautiful, warm brownish-red colour with a subtle patina that highlights the embossing. The front cover is dominated by a large heart formed from floral and plant motifs – intertwining vines, leaves, and flowers. The back cover is plain, which is practical for writing.

The journal closes securely with a leather strap and a robust, patinated metal clasp (a C-hook or swing hook) in an antiqued-brass finish. The spine is adorned with a visible cross-stitch binding, underscoring its handmade and historical character.

Warning and Care

Important Note on the Paper: Due to its rough and absorbent texture, the paper is unlined and ideal for ballpoint pens, pencils, or crayons. Acrylics may also work. However, we do not recommend using fountain pens or watercolours, as they will bleed and feather heavily on this paper.

Protect the leather from water and excessive moisture. If it gets damp, let it air dry slowly at room temperature. For maintenance, you can *very sparingly* treat the leather with a leather conditioner (e.g., beeswax-based), but be aware that any oil or wax-based product will alter (usually darken) the character of the patina.
