Leather Journal "Celtic Cross", Patinated Finish, Vintage Paper, 18.5x13.5 cm

Antique Look, Honest Craftsmanship

The cover of this journal is made from high-quality, genuine buffalo leather, which has been vegetable-tanned. Its most striking feature is the finish – the leather is dark brown but has a distinct patina that perfectly accentuates the deep embossing. The front cover is dominated by a large Celtic Cross, richly decorated with traditional knotwork. The entire motif is set within an ornate, arched frame.

The journal closes securely with a leather strap and a robust, antiqued-brass-coloured metal clasp (a C-hook or swing hook). The spine is adorned with a visible cross-stitch binding in a contrasting reddish-brown, underscoring its handmade and historical character.

Paper with a Story to Tell

What truly sets this journal apart is its paper. Inside, you'll find 100 leaves (200 pages) of handmade paper, deliberately crafted in a "vintage" style. The paper is not white; it has a distinct, deep yellow-to-ochre patina, a rough texture, and deckled edges. Every page is an original, lending an incredibly authentic, ancient look to your writings. It's ideal for creating a spellbook or an ancient chronicle.

A Note on the Paper: This paper is unlined. Thanks to its texture, it's great for writing with a ballpoint pen, pencil, or drawing with crayons. You can also try acrylic paints. However, we do not recommend using fountain pens or watercolours, as they would likely bleed and feather heavily on this absorbent, handmade paper.

For Monks, Mages, and Adventurers

This notebook is incredibly versatile. You can use it as a:

  • Sketchbook for your artistic ideas (for dry media).
  • In-game journal for your LARP or RPG character (ideal as a grimoire, spellbook, prayer book, or chronicle).
  • Notebook for notes from historical events or HEMA studies.

Caring for Your Journal

Leather is a natural material. Protect the journal from excessive moisture and water – the paper inside is particularly sensitive. If the leather gets damp, let it air dry slowly at room temperature. To maintain its suppleness, you can *very sparingly* treat the leather (avoiding the clasp strap) with a leather conditioner. Be aware that any wax or oil-based product may darken the lighter areas of the patina, changing the overall look.
