The knight stands in full plate armour in a calm but vigilant stance. In his right hand, he holds the shaft of the flail, from which hangs a spiked ball on a chain, ready to crush any armour. His left hand is protected by a large round shield featuring a rich relief of a gold lion (or gryphon) in the centre, bordered by heraldic fleur-de-lis.
