Historical Insight: Templar Might

White clothing with a red cross is the iconic sign of the Knights Templar. Although the sword was the symbol of knighthood, in the crush of Crusade battles, knights often reached for an axe or mace. These weapons required less room to swing and were more effective against the improving armour of the Saracens. This statue thus shows the more pragmatic and brutal side of the Holy War.
