Stainless Steel Pocket Hip Flask with Black Faux Leather Wrap
The History of Hip Flasks and Their Design
Pocket flasks for spirits, as we know them today, experienced their greatest boom in the 18th and 19th centuries among the gentry, when they were often crafted from silver or glass. With the advent of modern metallurgy and stainless steel, they became vastly more durable and found a firm place in the kit of soldiers in the trenches of the First World War, as well as civilians during the American Prohibition. This flask is manufactured with the traditional slight curve that anatomically mimics the shape of the human body. Another historically proven and highly practical detail is the captive top (hinged screw cap). Thanks to this clever mechanism, your cap will never drop into the mud or snow when you take a sip in the great outdoors.
Proper Care for Stainless Steel and Faux Leather
To ensure the flask serves you for many years and your beverage retains its perfect flavour, proper maintenance is required. The vessel is constructed from high-quality food-grade stainless steel. Before the very first use, thoroughly rinse it out with warm water and a drop of mild washing-up liquid, then leave it to dry. Strictly avoid washing the flask in a dishwasher! The hot water and harsh chemicals would irreversibly destroy and peel off the elegant faux leather cover and stitching. Wash the flask by hand only, and if the outside gets dirty, simply wipe it with a damp cloth. An important rule among experienced woodsmen is: never leave alcohol inside the flask for more than three days. Prolonged storage could cause the spirit to take on an unwanted metallic aftertaste.
