Compact Hunting Knife with Brass Bolster and Black Micarta

Agile Helper for Detailed Work

Thanks to its smaller, flat-ground blade, this everyday carry fixed blade is ideal for tasks where a regular large camp knife fails due to its clumsiness. It is perfectly suited for skinning, fine woodwork, carving, outdoor food preparation, or simply as a reliable edge for everyday tasks. Similarly small and agile knives were widely used throughout history; for instance, in the 18th and 19th centuries, hunters and trappers favored so-called patch knives, small tools used, among other things, to cut patches for muzzleloaders. Today, these traditional shapes are finding their way back into our gear thanks to modern and durable materials.

Modern Materials and Precise Craftsmanship

The blade is made of proven X50CrMoV15 molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel. This material is widely used in knifemaking for its great corrosion resistance, toughness, and ability to hold a sharp edge for a long time while remaining easy to resharpen. Safety during work is ensured by an elegant brass bolster that flows seamlessly into the ergonomically shaped handle. The scales are milled from black micarta – a highly durable composite that is immune to moisture and temperature fluctuations. The handle is securely fastened with two brass pins, and at its end, there is a brass lanyard tube through which a safety cord (paracord) can be threaded. Detail-oriented users will appreciate the thin red line (liner) separating the micarta from the steel, giving the knife a dynamic look. The sheath is sewn from quality dark brown cowhide and reinforced with striking yellow stitching.

Principles of Safe Use

This tool features a very sharp blade, and extreme caution must be exercised when handling it. For safety reasons, this is a working tool totally unsuitable for historical contact fencing, combat training, or LARP battles, as serious injury could occur. Use the knife exclusively for cutting. Never use it as a pry bar, a chisel in stone or steel, and do not apply extreme pressure to the tip of the blade, as it could break.

Care and Maintenance

To preserve its perfect appearance and functionality, we recommend washing the knife under running water and drying it thoroughly after use in an aggressive environment (blood, acidic fruits). You can occasionally treat the blade with a thin layer of gun oil or high-quality food oil. Pay special attention to the leather sheath – to prevent the leather from cracking and to keep it supple, treat it regularly with a leather balm containing beeswax. Never wash the knife in a dishwasher, as this could damage both the micarta and the brass elements.

With this knife, we recommend purchasing a quality pocket sharpening stone to maintain a perfect edge in the field and a leather belt for hanging the sheath.
