A Fascinating Fact from the History of Tactical Crossbows

The EK Archery VLAD is essentially a high-tech reincarnation of this ancient idea, but utilizing modern composite materials and aerospace-grade aluminium, giving it incomparably higher accuracy and penetrative power.
How to Properly Care for Your Crossbow
- Waxing the String: Regularly (ideally every 50 shots) lubricate the centre serving of the string with special crossbow wax. This prevents premature fraying.
- Lubricating the Rail: Treat the flight track (rail) with silicone oil to reduce friction and extend the lifespan of your string.
- Storage: Store the crossbow in a dry place. If you are not going to use it for an extended period, we recommend unstringing it so the limbs do not lose their tension and elasticity.
What You Must Absolutely Avoid
Never dry fire your crossbow! Firing without a loaded bolt causes all the kinetic energy to bypass the projectile and violently snap back into the limbs and string. This can lead to the immediate fracture of the limbs, snapping of the string, and, in the worst-case scenario, serious injury to yourself. Also, ensure you only load the weapon with bolts recommended by the manufacturer – shorter or damaged bolts can cause jams within the magazine.
