Set of 12 Black Crusader Figurines – Hospitaller Guard

Four Stances, Twelve Warriors

The set contains a total of 12 figurines divided into 4 different designs (you will find 3 pieces of each design in the package). The figurines are made of polyresin and hand-painted with attention to detail.

  • Guardian with Greatsword: A knight standing in a calm but vigilant stance, resting his hands on the hilt of a large sword. His black surcoat and shield are adorned with a distinct white cross.
  • Spearman: A warrior holding a long spear in his right hand and a heater shield with a white cross in his left. Ideal for sentries or second-row formations.
  • Attacking Swordsman: A knight drawing his sword, ready to strike, covered by a shield. A dynamic pose for the front line.
  • Commander with Drawn Sword: A figure in a firm stance with a drawn sword pointing towards the ground and a shield ready for defence.

Historical and Gaming Use

These knights reference the Knights Hospitaller (Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem), who wore black cloaks with white crosses during the Crusades. This attire symbolized humility and service to the sick but simultaneously concealed feared warriors. They all wear chainmail (hauberk) and Great Helms or nasal helmets, corresponding to 12th and 13th-century armour. With a height of 7.5 cm (approx. 3 inches), these figurines are larger than standard 28mm miniatures, so they will appear on the gaming table as a dominant elite or beautiful decoration.

Caring for Your Small Army

The figurines are armoured, but the material requires care:

  • Material: Polyresin is hard but brittle. If a figurine falls from a table onto a hard floor, a sword, spear, or part of the base may snap off. Handle them with care.
  • Cleaning: Remove dust with a fine brush (e.g., for models). Do not use water or chemical cleaners, which could damage the hand-painting.
