A Cowboy's Essential Tool Reimagined
The Facón's design lineage can be traced back to large European knives of the 14th century, but it truly found its home in North and South America with the early settlers. This interpretation features a 30.5 cm blade with complex, hand-filed jimping along the spine—a nod to traditional craftsmanship that also provides a tactile reference point. The handle is hand-carved from exotic Malaysian Sal wood, capped with a nickel-plated steel bolster and pommel for a secure, balanced grip.
Even the sheath respects tradition: it is crafted from thick black leather with a centre seam and features a decorative nickel-plated steel chape (tip). The core of this knife, however, is the 1090 carbon steel. It is an excellent choice for large fixed blades, offering a perfect balance of sharpness and toughness, capable of enduring heavy use without snapping.

Usage and Maintenance
The Facón is essentially the ultimate outdoor camp knife. Its broad profile makes it exceptional for food preparation, slicing meat, and general utility tasks around the campsite. Its robust construction also allows for lighter chopping duties.
Care Instructions: Please remember that 1090 High Carbon Steel is not stainless. To prevent rust, you must keep the blade clean and dry. We strongly recommend applying a light coat of protective oil (such as mineral oil or a dedicated knife care product) after every use and before storage. The wooden handle will also benefit from occasional waxing or oiling to maintain its lustre and prevent cracking.
What to Avoid
- Dishwashers: Never clean this knife in a dishwasher. The heat and chemicals will ruin the wood and corrode the steel.
- Prying: While tough, the tip is designed for piercing and slicing. Do not use it as a pry bar.
- Moisture: Do not store the knife in the leather sheath for extended periods, as leather traps moisture which can lead to rust.
