Journal with Pacific Map Print 1589 - Patinated Paper, Glued Binding
Paper Cover with a Historical Imprint
Unlike other journals, this model does not have a leather cover. Its binding is made from sturdy paper (cardstock), printed with a section of the famous "Maris Pacifici" map by Abraham Ortelius from 1589. This was the very first printed map dedicated to the Pacific Ocean! You can see the coast of the Americas, part of the ocean with a period sailing ship, and the map's decorative title cartouche. The print and overall cover design are executed in a vintage style with a patina effect, closely resembling an old original. Thanks to the glued binding, the map print is continuous, and when the journal is fully opened, you can see the map spread beautifully across both sides of the cover.
Paper Like a Ship's Logbook
Inside, you'll find 144 pages (72 sheets) of handmade, structured, plain (unlined) paper with a weight of 125 gsm. The edges of the paper are artificially burnt and patinated, giving it an incredibly authentic look of an aged document. This paper is ideal for writing with a ballpoint pen or pencil, or for drawing with crayons or acrylic paints. Please be aware that ink or watercolours might bleed on this type of paper.
Slim and Light Companion
The journal measures approximately 20 x 14.5 cm (roughly 8 x 5.7 inches) and is relatively thin (about 1.5 cm), weighing only around 256 grams. This makes it easy to take with you anywhere.
Be inspired by the spirit of explorers and capture your own journeys and thoughts in this unique journal featuring the Maris Pacifici map. It's a piece of history you can hold in your hands!
