The baldric was also used to carry heavy burdens, such as the drum. However most often weapons (sword, rapier, smallsword) would be hung on it. The baldric for a smallsword or rapier is made of up to 3 mm thick cowhide. It is hung on the shoulder and worn diagonally across the chest. The length of the carrying strap can be shortened or extended via a robust buckle.Along its entire length the baldric is decorated with silvery lace that is sewn onto the leather part of the baldric. Loops used to attach a rapier scabbard are threaded through the bottom widened part of the baldric. The maximum length of the carrying strap is 160 cm. At your request we can produce longer straps.
