This model of the hanger is based on historical hangers from central France. The baldric was also used to carry heavy burdens, such as the drum. However most often weapons (sword, rapier, smallsword) would be hung on it. The hanger is mainly made of up to 3mm thick smooth cowhide. This type of hanger is composed of a belt and of a shaped suspensory part. Weapons are attached to the hanger via 5 pieces of suspensory strings that are threaded though the shaped suspensory part. The hanger is attached to the wide leather strap = rapier baldric, worn over the shoulder - diagonally across the chest/trunk.
