Renaissance University Gown With Cape And Beret
The Noble Garment Of European Scholars
The gown is a garment of ancient origin. During the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance across Europe, university masters, doctors, judges, and other representatives of the intelligentsia dressed in gowns. The garment symbolised wisdom, high social status, and dignity. The full-circle cape sewn over the shoulders not only emphasised the majestic silhouette of the wearer but also fulfilled a practical insulating function in the cold stone halls of old universities and castles.
This product is made of high-quality fustian. It is a dense cotton fabric that is exceptionally pleasant to the touch, breathable, and has excellent thermoregulatory properties. Thanks to the 100% cotton content, you will feel comfortable in the garment even during long wear. The gown is permanently sewn together at the front, making it easy to pull over the head. The long shawl collar and the plate-shaped beret contrast in colour with the rest of the robe, while the edges are elegantly decorated with a silver leonic braid. Upon request, the product is custom-made to measure and in your preferred colours.

Care For Historical Clothing
To ensure this noble piece lasts as long as possible looking like new, we recommend washing it by hand or in a washing machine on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 30 °C (86 °F). Use mild detergents without bleach. Do not tumble dry the garment; let it dry naturally hanging on a hanger to avoid unnecessary creasing. We recommend ironing carefully from the reverse side on a medium setting.
Recommended Accessories
With this Renaissance gown, we highly recommend purchasing a period leather pouch for coins or documents and high-quality leather footwear from the 15th or 16th century, which will perfectly complete your costume. Please note that the footwear shown in the photographs is not included in the delivery.
