Gladius Swords
The Latin term Gladius used to refer to all swords, regardless of their length or shape. Today, however, the term Gladius is mainly associated with swords used by ancient Roman army. Gladius was 50 to 60 centimetres long, with a leaf-shaped blade and a simple hilt. For the Romans, gladius was a convenient weapon, used mainly in close formations.
