Recommended Bow Specifications
Given the 28" length and shaft construction, I recommend using this arrow with practice bows or youth bows with a draw weight up to 20–25 lbs. The arrow is ideal for shooters whose draw length does not exceed 27 inches. I do not recommend using it with stronger bows (over 30 lbs), as the dynamic pressure of the string could cause flight instability or, in extreme cases, damage to the wooden shaft.
How to Care for Your Arrow and What to Avoid
Wood is a natural material and requires a bit of love. To make your Motega arrows last as long as possible, follow these tips:
- Shaft Inspection: Before every shot, run your fingers down the shaft. If you feel a crack or a splinter, discard the arrow immediately. Safety first!
- Suitable Target: Only shoot into proper archery targets. A wooden arrow shot into a tree, a fence, or a wall will likely be destroyed on the first impact because the energy cannot be dissipated gradually.
- Moisture: If your arrows get wet, wipe them with a dry cloth and let them air dry. Never put them on a radiator, as the wood could warp.
- Storage: Vertical storage in a quiver is ideal, where there is no pressure on the feathers.
Interesting Fact About Natural Feathers
Did you know that natural feathers have microscopic hooks that lock together? Even if the feathers get a bit "ruffled" in your quiver, you can simply smooth them with your fingers or hold them over steam, and they will return to their original perfect shape. You can't do that with plastic vanes!
Recommended Accessories
For safe and enjoyable practice, get a quality straw or foam target butt. To protect yourself, I recommend a shooting glove or finger tab and definitely an arm guard to prevent painful string slaps. Your arrows are best carried in a simple back quiver or hip quiver.
