The very beautiful strap-and-buckle system of fastening proved very useful, securing the ankle with just one strap around and a buckle. This style of shoes is typical for the north Europe from 10th to 16th century.

This model is based on an archaeological finds at Dordrecht - very valuable excavation, where 218 different pairs of shoes many other artefact were found. This model was assorted into the group “Split-Pullstrap Fastening” and was documented as type 30, 1a variant.
