The Barbiere, is a transitional helmet between the nasal and great helm. It was often decorated with metal strips, so that a cross was formed around on the front part and on the face shield. The Barbiere offers riders a good protection of the face. However, it limits the outlook of the knight. However, this is not tragic, as the horse takes over the running and the rider must only look forward.
