Dating to the first half of the 15th century, this sallet is hand hammered on lead, creating an interesting texture on the surface of the iron plate. The helmet is also decorated with rivets on the back half of the helmet bowl. There is a ridge at the top of the bell to increase resistance to blows from above. The visor on the pivots then adequately protects the lower part of the face. The lower part of the visor is attached to the helmet with a pin lock that prevents accidental opening. The lower edge of the helmet is finished all around rolled. The helmet has a fabric lining on the inside.
